This item was inspired by the i-CentiPot! This robot was born from researching the subject of intelligence by a team at Osaka University, Graduate School of Engineering, and aimed to prove a hypothesis that intelligence stems not from the intelligent life or object itself, but from its interaction with its surroundings. Movement is not controlled explicitly by a computer or other control law, but rather implicitly from the way that the robot reacts to the environment via its flexible joints and motorized legs.Â
This assembly kit creates a centipede robot with highly realistic slithering motion. A central gearbox with an integrated motor provides power to the individual body sections and head via universal joints that allow freedom of vertical and lateral motion. Changing the number of body sections used and attachment direction of the legs alters the robot's motion, and the legs can even be removed. The kit includes everything needed for easy snap-fit/screw-together assembly. Will be approximately 40cm long and 9.2cm wide when assembled, requires 2 AAA-size batteries, not included.Â
